Protect yourself from tetanus
Tetanus is a serious, potentially fatal infectious disease that can affect people of any age.
Despite the significant progress achieved with universal vaccination, tetanus cases continue to be reported in Portugal, particularly among people who have not been vaccinated or who do not get booster shots as regularly as recommended.
The bacteria that cause tetanus live in the environment, primarily in soil and manure, and enter the body through skin wounds, particularly those caused by nails, thorns, bites, or splinters.
