João de Almeida

João Eduardo Antunes Carvalho de Almeida was born in Vila do Conde on February 26, 1966.

In 1985, he entered, with an average of 18 values, in the course of Medicine, at the Faculty of Medicine of Porto, concluding his degree in 1991, with the final classification of 14.41.

He finished his General Internship at Hospital de S. João in 1993, having been awarded the professional certificate nº34205 / 10657 of the Ordem dos Médicos.
He competed in the competition for Medical Officers of the Permanent Staff of the Portuguese Army ranking in 1st place and chose the specialty of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

During his internship in Plastic Surgery he undertook (by personal option) a valence in Dermatology, having been the first to do so in the history of this training.

He performed the final tests of the specialty in 2001 having obtained, unanimously and in all tests, the classification of 19 values.
In the year 2000 he obtained the Diplôme Universitaire de Microchirurgie de l'Université de Bordeaux, in France, with the highest classification.

He works (or), as a Plastic Surgeon, in several private clinics in the cities of Porto, Vila do Conde, Vila Real and Maia and in the Prelada Hospitals, in Porto, and in the Hôpital du Tondu, in Bordeaux. He was also the physician responsible for the Plastic Surgery Services at the Padre Américo Hospital - Vale do Sousa, in Penafiel; at the Vila Real Hospital Center / Peso da Régua and at the Hospital das Forças Armadas - Polo do Porto. In the latter, he held numerous management positions, of which the Plastic Surgery Service and the Departments of: Ambulatory, Emergency and Intermediate Care Departments stand out.

He taught, by invitation, the discipline of Dermato-Functional Physiotherapy to the Physiotherapy course at the Piaget Institute - Vila Nova de Gaia in the academic years 2006/2007 and 2007/2008.

He was an Organizing Member of the XXIII and President of the XLVIII Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the latter entirely dedicated, for the first time in Portugal, to Aesthetics and which featured speakers of national and international renown.

He participated in numerous courses, meetings and congresses, national and foreign, as moderator and guest speaker - “Faculty guest” - and of which he highlights, in the years of 2019 and 2020, that which is the largest world meeting of Aesthetics, the IMCAS World Congress in Paris.
